Core team may not like this but I can understand your point. There is a communication gap between IV Core team and members. Core team wants to hide everything they are doing assuming that anti are reading the forum and they will know what we are doing. On other side members feel uncomfortable as nothing comes out as solid / strong plan of action. There were couple of instances were I personally felt that core talks too much among themselves and release almost zero information to members, it may be good for community overall but not good for an organization where everyone is participating directly or indirectly. By recent posts by Pappu, I think they are improving.
We need to give them a chance as anyways their act is selfless. They may be lagging in personal management but they are not bad by heart or doing anything for personal benefit.
With all due respect to the selfless hard work of IV core, I concur with ItIsNotFunny. There are many members who feel this way. IV core should be more open to members. I feel a cloud of secrecy always surrounding IV. Of course they cannot be public about all their activities, but more needs to be done on this front. You will see more members actively participating if core is more open.

nothing will happen without extra GC numbers. we must fight for recapture and exemption. this move seems much too incredible to me. there are a few spillover numbers and a very large number of people waiting from 04-06. ther is no way these people are all (or even most) getting a GC in the short term.
we will end up seeing some random approvals and a lot of heartburn from many others. I truly wonder what is going on.....

H1b and GC are sponsered by employer and they have to pay. If employer asks employee to pay the expenses then that company is not legitimate and persons should avoid joining those companies. Most reputed companies will pay all the expenses of GC and H1b. Some will ask employees to pay for dependents EAD,AP etc.
Consulting companies ask employees to pay GC and H1b if employees want to work hourly. That means employees wanted more money and they are taking risk(Also working hourly is against the H1b regulations as they have more chance for falling out of status).
There's no law that employer should borne the cost of GC. I have spent almost 10K in my GC process until last year and 2K this year for EADs and APs. I live in LA and would love to be a part of the SoCal community.
I'm waiting to apply for the I485. I heard from my attorney second week of June that USCIS has expedited the process and we need to file by end of July. I got my medical done in a rush and then we hear they're not going to accept applications. Any idea how long the medical remains valid?

Depends on ur employer. Usually after AC21 - it is obvious that there is no fee involved and many companies hire you after ac21 because they do need to deal with stuff like this.

Not that I say we need change, but this is a public organization. Everyone has a right to call for election. There is nothing wrong.

Retrogress is against the principle of laws. Think about the reason that the government wants provide a path for these undocumented people is the government wants secure the border. Before the law take effective, they need find a way to take care of these people because new law can not have retrogress. Same should apply to the legal immigrants. When the new law is being discussed, it can not terminate or replace the current law. I don’t think people interpret the words correctly. I believe introduction means the period of time before the signed new law replaces the current one.
Law execution shall favor the executed person. I don’t know how to describe it in a professional matter. I give an example,
Person A is sentenced to death and will be executed on June 15th. However, new law takes effective on June 5, and according to new law Person A shall be sentenced 20 years in prison. So Person A can appeal to change the sentence.
On the other hand, Person A is sentenced to 10 years and will be executed on June 5th. But new law will take effective which gives 20 years in prison. So will the person get a severer penalty? I don’t think so.
In addition to that, when a new law is dramatically changed, compared to the current law, an introduction period is usually applied. During this period of time dual status may apply. I think they will eventually open up EB2, unless their plan is to clear EB3-I first (which would not be unfair I think).
See one of my earlier posts, one of the core issues is the sudden forward and then sudden backward movements in the dates.
If the demand is anticipated correctly, there shouldn't be need for closing the window at all!

Come on people, now we are in the same boat.
For many of us, GC journey is just started. All of us have seen how difficult it was to cross the first tide that shattered our lives for 15 full days - can we forget the 15 days of darkness (2nd-17th July)?... We've heard the agonizing stories of those who're on this boat for years now. With the backlogs and all, this journey is far from over from them too..
This journey will have many more painful and frustrating tides...
We have many adversaries who are united and resolved not to let us succeed.
IV rescued us this time, it helped us in overcoming the first tide.
Now we need to strengthen it for the future. Your small contributions made today will go long way.
Just imagine, if we are successful in making a change that allows using 200000 wasted visa numbers, then it can shorten the wait time by, probably, an year or two. And this is just one example. Legal immigration system requires many more improvements. It will not happen unless we've some representation and unity. IV provided that platform to us.
If we're not united and potent, then many bills are waiting to harm us. There are big-shot politicians, media people and groups who are doing whatever they can to harm us. We've witnessed and they've not stopped it. They are relentless..
We cannot be a sitting duck for them.
Lets contribute to strengthen IV - our group, our support and our united front in this tidy and turbulent GC journey.

People in the forum are talking a lot about visa recapture..
But how will this help if USCIS continues to disregard PDs utterly and just approve cases that they can lay their hands on....
Due to July 2 fiasco, pretty much everyone have filed I-485...Even those with 2007 PDs.
Say USCIS recaptures Visas, makes every category current and starts approving 2007 PD cases! Even worst, due to the every category 'C', may be 2008, 2009 (when it arrives) people start applying I-485 as well, and USCIS continues to consume all the visa numbers to to approve the cases of these lucky bas*$%^&ds (no offence!) with most recent PDs. How does this help you or me with older PDs waitin for years and years ! :(

Hello,
We ( I and my wife) applied I-485, AP and EAD on July 26th, 2007 got recipt on Sep 26 th,2007. Finger printing done on Oct 31, 2007. My wife got her EAD and AP( 11/09/2007) and I got my EAD but my AP is not approved yet. I contacted with Texas Service center and they told that our (for me and my wife) namecheck and finger printing have been cleared. But my AP is pending because of background check. I asked is it different kind of check , she said yes but as usual could no tell how long it usuallky take to complete this kind of check and also when this background check has been requested.
I need to travel in January. Does anyone has the same situation ? Please reply

Just kidding.. You are perfectly right.. Thats the right word and I have said the same even in my first post here. I would request again somebody from IV admin group to take the lead and gather all EB3 to one forum to make a difference. I see atleast 4-5 threads here with same topic.
I would suggest the campaign can have "Visa number recapture, immediate greencard for anyone more than 5 years legally in the US, make all cases current, but apply the quotas at H1 or F1 levels and no limits at GC level. I have many ideas,. but we all must come together and ask just a couple of things or one (recapture) and fight for it. We can do other things too, but a flower campaign will not hurt. IN the worst case it will not make any effect.
We can always send cards which is much easier than flower..
Please come up with something and we can make some progress. Assuming OCt bulletin is coming out on Sep 10th, we have just 26 days to make any difference. That too it must reach them way in advance to effect any change. Lets set a deadline of Aug 25th and do it..

I think we will see a renewed activity on IV forums in 2009. I still believe visa recapture bill like HR5882 has a good chance of getting passed. It may not get passed in this congress considering how few working days are left and presidential elections in November. But in 2009 the bill should gain new momentum with new congress and new president in office.
Also, by that time EB2 dates will be again retrogressed and those impatiently waiting for their approvals today will be back to support new action items. Please don't take this as spiteful wish against EB2, I'm EB2 myself! Just that I don't think everyone who is current now will get their GC before October 2008. For once I would be overjoyed if I'm wrong on this one :)

So EB2's stop working because their PD is current and EBs stop because there is little hope/chance/help. We can dissect the VB as much as we want, the fact of the matter is that EB3 as a whole and EB3 (india &China) in particular are screwed big time. There is hope in the Logfren bills but the congress seems to have other 'important' issues to discuss.
We should take the campaign to a new level move from individuals to involving groups and compaines. They have more money and power to make things move. EB3 & EB2 discussions will go on for ever, we can either decide to wallow in our sorrow or do something. Lets identify groups who can help us and write to them.
