However, we intend to submit these as Op-Eds. In general, Op-Eds are more effective and more likely to be accepted when they are written in the first person. The newspaper editors - and the normal reader - are looking for how the broken system affected you, gentle writer. The very first article in this whole thread was really the best one since it was written from the first person and brought a face, a personality to paper.

Came to USA in March 2000. First company never filed for GC in 2000 and 2001 year. Lost job in 2001. Got consulting work in another state. Later joined 3rd company in 2002.
1st EB3 Labor - Filed on Feb - 2004 in 3rd company in USA
(Labor Gone to backlog and lost job before it sees any light)
2nd EB2 Labor - Nov - 2006 - in 4th company in USA.
(Applied I-140 on Jan -2007- Got denied on May-2009 after two RFE's.)
(Appealed I-140 on June - 2009...still waiting for their response)

What spillover for EB3 you are talking about? Based on how they interpreted the spillover law last year, EB3-I can't get any spillover until EB2-I and EB3-ROW is current and thats decade away.
I am just trying to get the facts. I am not against EB3-I as I myself is EB3-I and waiting for my turn since last 7 years.

I Agree with you, EB3 I will never ever be current unless there is a resolution or releaf passed by Mr Change (Obama) or his lobby, there is no light beyond this tunnel until we see some releaf which does not look getting this year atleast and may be another couple of years.
Predictions are good to just hear and watch and here predictions are like lovely dreams which will never come true unless untill any big chnage is taken place, and the only person who i have hope with to do something for EB3 I is President Obama.

Heres the sliver lining of all this immigration mess. Its good for spiritual development. I came here 10 years ago in mid 20s. My understanding of Indian philosophy was rudimentary at best. Now I have found reading and meditating on the meaning of Gita is one of the best ways for me to deal with the GC mess, and life in general. So I wonder if GC had been a smooth process would I have still discovered the beauty of the Gita?

I don't know if anybody has noticed it but the dates for EB-2 for VB October 2007 was April 1, 2004 and for VB October 2008 is April 1, 2003. That is a retrogression of 1 year - not good. :mad:

In the larger scheme of things, we 350k do not matter and do not have the political clout of the 11 million illegals.

We cannot change our employers within this period, the members of our families cannot work (at least legally) and our spouses lose their professional carrier; if our kids get in college they are treated as "aliens" (full tuition, no student loans, no scholarship); the loans we get are with higher interest rate (for "protection"); at the borders we are treated as "intruders" etc.
The average Americans are honest hardworking people. If they are aware of the immigration problems faced by 350,000 hardworking professionals in this country, they will raise their voice and will help for resolving of this issue. They just need to know that. I believe that in addition to talking to senators etc., we have to find ways our issues to reach the media - newspapers, magazines and so on. An article in Times may lead to a lot of positive changes in the immigration system.

07 case is different. we can't infer much from that. I hope DOS has some insight into the no of pending cases when the move dates like this. I am sure there will be language in the actual bulletin that saves them from flak when the move dates back. The primary aim is to utilize the visa nos. But with all the information available to them the movement should be proportional to the nos available from spillover and etc.,

Do you mean the bulletin on May or June 2007 is to utilize the visa so the dates are not the "real" date? Then how do you know Aug. 2008 move is not for the same purpose? Especially if this movement is caused by spillover.

I agree with the above posts, they are stealing money by having stupid charges. Why do you need to charge a customer Rs.400 for changing his account password. It is absolutely ridiculous! Compare that to a bank in US, you just go online and change the password. Also, they have 2 passwords one called Account password to login to the account and another called Transaction password for making any transactions. So the more number of passwords you have the more you tend to forget either of them and they can charge you Rs.400 for each password reset!:mad:

A Total I-485 Applicants: 750000 Applicants
B Each EAD processing time: 5 Minutes
C Total processing hrs: 62500 Hours
(Calculations: AxB/60)
D Daily productive Hours: 5 Hours
(It is a government body!)
E Total Man Days (Business Days): 12500 Man Days
(Calculations: C/D)
F EAD Workforce: 30 People
G Total Business Days: 417 Days
(Calculations: E/F)
H Average Business Days in a month: 21 Days
I Total Clearing Time : 20 Months
(Calculations: G/I)
If you are determined to make sensational calculations and postings then who can stop you, but seriously stop assuming things.
1st assumption: 750000 applicants (realistic figure near 500,000)
2nd assumption: all are adults (why would kids need EAD, and there would be several in that category)

Stop being so negative and sensationalizing everything. There are more genuine problems to talk about.
