You should be happy as you have a very old PD.
As u mentioned that you applied in mid june but the receipt date is mid july. What is your notice date? I thought that receipt date is the date when uscis receives your application. I may be wrong.
RECIPT DATE is the date when they input your info in the system. Before inputting in the system they check I140,medicals,etc. Notice date has no bearing. If your packet looks fine you get your receipt number and then you will be able to view the status on uscis.gov. The status will be something like "On july 9th 2007 we received your applivction ..............etc"

I got the e-mail today as well. My PD is Sep 2005 and my I-485 receipt date was Sep 30, 2005.
They indeed are clearing up the pipes, so the situation is not as horrible as it seems to be. A pd of 2004 is considered "old" so as soon as visa nos become available in october, they would be the first ones to get approved.

Found some interesting explanation about New interpretations on section 245(k). This has 180 days tolerance even if you continue work without legal status when in confusion, like the one you asked for.

Actually nurses have the H1c visa, but there are only 500 a year and only 14 hospitals in the whole country can apply for these visas. These visas last 3 years and after that the nurse has to leave the country. Not that employers don't want to apply for visas, it is just that many nursing positions DO NOT qualify for H1B! So the only viable option is the GC

Can you substantiate how he is suffering ? I also have a home loan through ICICI Bank and have been very happy so far. They have the best service amongst all banks in the country, and so they charge for it. Ultimately its a trade-off - you can decide whether you want to go cheap or require good service.
As some posters pointed out earlier, its extremely easy to apply for a home loan through ICICI Bank sitting here in the US. I dont know of any other Indian banks that would provide you the same level of convenience.
Check their interest rate and their service fee. I don't have to say anything anymore.
By the way what kind of convenience you received from ICICI bank? Recently i asked for a password change. You know the procedure for changing the password? I don't want to waste a page here. You yourself go and verify.

...welcome to the new nightmare, someone did say something about the grass been green on the other side..now that we are on the other side we wait for 485 to be current while we renew EAD/AP each year, fingerprint every 15 months and aviod the namecheck black hole...maybe this is what they(uscis) wanted after all...a steady income stream...good luck :)

I think there are many ways to look at it. Doing Free service , yes it is a form of Gandhigiri, but will that cause the lawmakers to recognize us and pass laws in favor o fus..I do not think so.
I think our situation is no different than people in South Africa in Gandhian times. How Gandhi fought for them is by writing and writing and pestering the Authorities to reduce unfair taxes on Indians in SA and to solve other problems they had like cannot ride in the same Trains/cars as Whites etc...., fighting for their rights in a Vocal but Non Voilent - non aggressive approach.
We, in this post , have equated Gandhigiri with - divide ur attention - Go Do MBA- be occupied with something else while u are retrogressed, furthur ur career/skills,,,etc I do not think that is what Gandhigiri is about i.e. doing something for the self, but instead do it for the community. In this case IV is our community and its leaders are doing the right thing for our cause and if we continue to support that by adding members, funds we will do a fair bit of gandhigiri towards our cause.

Since your PD is June 2003, you could have applied in June 2007 because in June Visa bulletin(released in May ) it moved till April 2004.
This is too good to be true.. How could you apply in June if you are Eb3 with PD Sept 2003? The PD was'nt current in June. Also, how did your 140 get approved in less than a month? Premium Processing was'nt there in July...
I have a PD of Sep 2003. I filed my labor in Nebraska in Sep 2003 and state labor got cleared in a week and federal took 2 weeks. I had my Labour on Oct 2nd. I filed for my 140 and recd approval in 3 months. I had to wait for my 485 filing as I wanted to file it with my spouse who was out of country at that time. Rest of the details are in my signature.
BTW, those who are stuck in BEC's my sympathies are with you, its just pure bad luck your cases got stuck in there. PERM or no PERM this whole GC thing is just matter of timing.
